Gloria Ortiz-Gonzales, 71, of Turlock, passed away peacefully at Emanuel Medical Center surrounded by her family on Friday, June 17, 2011. She was born on April 7, 1940 in Hanford, CA.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Lillie Hernandez and her two husbands, Joe Ortiz Sr. and Albert Gonzales.

She is survived by her children, Denise (Robert) Garcia, Joe Ortiz of Turlock, Teresa Ortiz of Salinas and Stephanie (Ron) Soto of Miami, Florida; Grandchildren, Robert Jr., Marissa, Nicholas Garcia, Soleil, Ronnie, and Christopher Soto, Jose Arce Jr, Genivie, Alexsia and Melissa Ortiz; Sisters, Margaret (Johnny Suarez) Hernandez, Connie Mendoza, of Salinas, Rachel (Valerio) Uarela, of Moss Landing; brothers, David Hernandez, of Salinas, Gilbert (Ernie) Hernandez of Surprise, Arizona and Edward Hernandez, of Yellowstone, along with numerous nieces, nephews and loving relatives.

Visitation will be held 1:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93901

Funeral Service will be held 11:00am Friday, June 24, 2011 at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93901

Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA 93901

2011 Hernandez Reunion – Back to Bakersfield

It’s that time of year to get out of the house and make the pilgrimage to the motherland! OK maybe not the motherland but how else are we suppose to get you to Bakersfield.

Information for this years reunion:

When – July 15-17, 2011
Where – Clarion Hotel, 3540 Rosedale Hywy, Bakersfield, Ca. 661-326-1111
Rate -$65.00 + tax (2 Dbl Beds)

Mention Hernandez Reunion when making reservation.
This years schedule of events:

Friday -

  • Meet & greet people poolside.

Saturday -

  • Morning – Breakfast (Complimentary for Hotel guests)

Saturday Afternoon -

  • Poolside, Grill available (Bring your own charcoal)

Saturday Evening -

  • Pot luck -(Plates, utensils, napkins,etc.,will be provided)
  • Auction -Recycled fashion show ( Notes below)
    *Model your own creations using aluminum, Styrofoam, Flowers, newspaper/s, etc. You can use anything but cloth.

Later in the evening you can watch Val and and Robert cut a rug.

Sunday -

The Rubio/Hernandez Family announces with profound regret and sadness the death of our Aunt Tonia.
She was 95 years old.

Services will be held this Saturday October 30th, 2010 in Monterey, California at the Seaside Mission Memorial Park. The viewings will be from 9 – 11AM and the service begins at 11AM.

There will be a reception at the St. John Episcopal Church Parrish Hall.

It’s Dr. Rivera I Presume

Frankie Rivera graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz on June 11th with a PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry. The family had a huge party after the ceremony where Frankie was toasted and celebrated late into the night. He has already accepted a position teaching Chemistry at California State University, Monterey Bay.
